KGM Motors UK, formerly SsangYong, is delighted to announce that the KGM Musso has been nominated in Diesel & Eco’s annual “Top 50 Diesel Car” shortlist for its 70th anniversary special edition Musso Saracen “Platinum”. The issue celebrates the finest new diesel vehicles available on the market today.
Ian Roberston, Editor of Diesel & Eco Car, said; “To celebrate the brand’s 70th anniversary, a special Musso Saracen Platinum has been announced. Priced at £34,995, exclusive of VAT, it features the standard bed and is limited to 70-vehicles to guarantee exclusivity. Available in Marble Grey and Grand White, the accessories added to the model include an electric roll-top with remote control, matt black sports styling bars, extended wheel arches, matt black sidesteps and a Musso skid plate. There’s also Saracen Platinum decals, a numbered interior badge and a commemorative keyring that indicates which number model the vehicle is. Under the bonnet is a 199bhp 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. Other features include 18-inch black alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, Nappa leather seats, heated front, and rear seats, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen, TomTom navigation system and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.”
The standard Musso range comes in three trim levels, starting at the manual-only EX and working up to the auto-only Rebel, Saracen and Saracen+ models, blending functionality and bold style with a commanding on-road presence that immediately captivates attention. The latter of the trim levels – the Saracen+ – possesses an extended cab, a foot longer than the standard Musso, and holds the title for best-combined towing and payload figures in the UK market.
This capability has positioned Musso as a significant player in the pickup truck sector. The latest nomination from the UK’s largest magazine dedicated to diesel power and alternatively fuelled vehicles continues to reflect the positive sentiment shared by automotive media and KGM customers.
Kevin Griffin, Managing Director of KGM Motors UK, said; “We are honoured that Musso has been shortlisted in the prestigious Top 50 issue of the Diesel & Eco Car magazine. The Musso has long been recognised for its exceptional value, and this nomination highlights our commitment to delivering vehicles that not only offer great value but also excel in overall performance, design, and capability.”
Since its extensive revamp in 2018, the Musso has set new standards in the pickup truck market. Through a complete redesign, it brought in smarter technology, improved safety features, and a more stylish appearance. It later underwent another update in 2023, receiving chrome-finished styling and a striking grille.
The Saracen and Saracen+ offer premium features expected from a modern luxury vehicle, including heated and cooled leather seats, a heated steering wheel, rear parking cameras, and an advanced infotainment system with TomTom navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
The Musso’s spacious double-cab design comfortably accommodates five adults, while its bed easily holds a Euro-style pallet. With a maximum payload of over 1,000 kg (1,200 kg for the Saracen+) and a towing capacity of 3,500 kg across automatic models, the Musso is equipped with advanced driving aids like trailer sway control, traction control system, and hill start assist, making heavy-duty tasks easier.
The Musso has earned multiple accolades over the years, including What Car? Best Payload Award in 2021 and 2022, 4×4 Magazine’s Best Value Pick-Up for 2024, and Carbuyer’s Top Pick-Up for 2023. The Musso LWB also secured the Caravan and Motorhome Club’s Towcar of the Year 2022 in the pick-up category.
